Classroom News...
We start off the month celebrating Catholic School's Week! A detailed note went home last week about the week's activities. I have posted a brief listing above. The theme this year is "Faith, Academics, and Service." The class did a wonderful job with their research projects on Penguins and Polar Bears! These activities practiced their writing skills and they are excited to share them with you on Family Night. The January Book Report Projects are wonderful. The children enjoy sharing information about their characters and masks to the class. We will start timed addition/subtraction fact tests this month. The target fact family will be posted weekly in their Homework Notebook and the children should study those facts. We have started to explore money and time in Math. Hands on activities will help the children with identifying and combining coins and making change. Please continue to build your child's knowledge by practicing counting money and telling time at home. The more the children practice, the more proficient they will become with both of these life skills. We have begun our unit on Forces and Motion in Science. The class will be working on class activities to explore push/pull and magnets. In Social Studies we will study our country's goverment. We will study the Works of Mercy in Religion and how we can incorporate them into our daily lives. The childen are very excited to begin cursive this month. We will start with strokes and then lower case letters. I am proud of all their effort and and accomplishments.
-There will not be a book report project for February. The children will be expected to read for 15 minutes each night as part of their homework .
-We will celebrate Valentine's Day with a small party in school on Tuesday February 14th. The children should only sign their names to their cards. We will decorate bags in class, I will send home a donation note for juice boxes, paper goods, and a small treat. If your child has a food allergies please send in a treat for your child.
Class Community Service Project...
Our class continue to collect dental supplies for a local food pantry. The service project will culminate this month as we celebrate Dental Health Month. Thank you to those families who have sent in donations for this worthwhile project. Your generosity is a wonderful example to your children.
-We are low on tissues and baby wipes. Any donations would be greatly appreciated.
